As the budget standoff extended into its second day, ex-commander-in-chief Donald Trump yesterday hailed the budget interruption as an “unprecedented opportunity” to push forward his campaign of dismissing federal employees and downsizing agencies.

The former president stated through online channels that he would confer with the management director, the budget office leader, an architect of the mass firings and buyouts for federal workers.
