Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
